Located just north of downtown Los Angeles, Van Nuys Airport opened in 1928 on just 80 acres of land as the privately owned Metropolitan Airport. Today, Van Nuys Airport is one of the worlds busiest general aviation airports and is dedicated to non-commercial air travel, averaging approximately 1,300 operations per day. More than 100 businesses are located on the 730 acre airport helping VNY contribute more than $1 Billion annually to the Southern California economy.
